A range of disability sessions will be available across Caerphilly this Easter school holidays, offering accessible opportunities for children and young people to be active, play and socialise in safe, supportive environments.
The programme includes Disability Swim sessions at leisure centres across the borough, alongside an inclusive Disability Play session at the Centre for Skills and Learning in Pontllanfraith.
Some swimming sessions will run as Disability Swim (Quiet Session), designed to provide a calmer experience with reduced noise levels and no additional pool features in use. These sessions are suitable for children and young people who benefit from a quieter, more relaxed environment.
The Disability Play session offers a supportive, child-led space where children can engage at their own pace. Delivered by experienced playworkers, the session is designed to be inclusive and welcoming. Parents or guardians are required to stay for the duration. This session is free, with booking required via the Leisure Lifestyle app.
Please note that leisure centres will be closed on Good Friday and Bank Holiday Monday. As a result, no sessions will take place on these days, including the usual Monday and Friday activity programme.
Providing inclusive opportunities supports the council’s Sport and Active Recreation Strategy, helping to reduce barriers and ensure that more children and young people can take part in activity in a way that suits them.
